International Salon Culinaire, which takes place as part of Hotel, Restaurant & Catering (HRC) on 21-23 March 2022 at ExCeL London, has opened for entries and announced several key equipment suppliers for the competition.

In addition to headline sponsorship from Compass Group UK and Ireland, Salon Culinaire has partnered with a range of professional catering equipment suppliers, to ensure competing chefs are working with premium products in the show’s Live Theatre kitchens. All supplier partners are members of the FEA.

Unox, which was recently awarded Supplier of the Year – Sustainability at the Catering Insight Awards, will be providing chefs with its Cheftop Mind.Maps Plus GN 1/1 right hand hinge 10-tray self-cleaning combi oven.

Scott Duncan, MD of Unox UK, commented: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Salon Culinaire, it’s a great step for Unox moving forward. Considering the challenges that the industry has faced over the past couple of years we felt that it was vital as an equipment manufacturer to support the next generation of chefs and give back to the industry.”

The Cheftop Mind.Maps Plus is an intelligent combi oven that grills, fries, roasts, browns, smokes, and cooks with steam. It features the latest intelligent technologies to fit into any kitchen and to provide chefs with practical support. It is designed to be easy to use, with automatic cooking cycles and intelligent functions for impeccable and consistent results.

The Live Theatre Kitchen’s commercial induction hobs will be courtesy of Induced Energy, which is providing its CS3000QT four-zone tabletop induction hobs for competition chefs.

Induced Energy MD Rosemary Sanders remarked: “Induced Energy is proud to supply our induction ranges to the Salon Culinaire for the second year running. We wish all competitors the best of luck.”

Fermod has joined Salon Culinaire as official food grade racking partner, while Liebherr will be providing commercial refrigeration systems for the competing chefs. Filta Environmental will be the exclusive grease trap partner for 2022 and the official knife sharpening partner is Catra.

Salon Culinaire chef director Steve Munkley commented: “I’m delighted that International Salon Culinaire is back and live at HRC after a tough 2 years for the hospitality industry. We will once again be testing the skills, knowledge, and creativity of each competitor, from seasoned professionals to some of the most talented junior chefs in the industry, with the help of our fantastic equipment partners.

“Salon Culinaire is a valuable opportunity for chefs to test their skills against the competition and stand out from the crowd, so get entering!”

Over 70 expert chefs and hospitality professionals have been confirmed as judges for the competition, including Cyrus Todiwala, Yolande Stanley and HRC chef ambassador Michel Roux Jr, plus senior chefs from institutions such as the Royal Lancaster London, the Royal Household, London Hilton Park Lane and Cowarth Park, Ascot. Jackets for all judges will be provided by mental health awareness social enterprise The Burnt Chef Project.

The deadline for entries to the competition is 21 February 2022.
